The effect of negative ions on the human body is extremely positive.

People in an environment that is rich in negative ions experience increased work productivity

Remember that feeling you experienced near a waterfall, high in the mountains or after a lightning storm? That intense feeling of refreshment and alertness is the result of you breathing in massive quantities of naturally occurring negative ions.

Ions are charged particles in the air that are formed when enough energy acts upon a molecule, such as carbon dioxide, oxygen, water, or nitrogen, to eject an electron. The displaced electron attaches itself to a nearby molecule, which then becomes a negative ion. It is the negative ion of oxygen that affects us most. Though the ion is termed a negative or negatively-charged ion, its effects on the human body are extremely positive.

The normal ion count in fresh country air is 2 000 to 4 000 negative ions per cubic centimetre (about the size of a sugar cube). At Victoria Falls, you will experience over 100 000 negative ions per cubic centimetre while a Johannesburg freeway during rush hour only has levels below 100 per cubic centimetre.

It has been proven through exhaustive research that negative ions break down serotonin, a very active neuro hormone, which causes profound neural, glandular and digestive effects throughout the body. The metabolism is enhanced to create better utilisation of nutrients from our foods and vitamins, while our brain’s intuitive, non-linear activities flow more smoothly.

People in an environment that is rich in negative ions experience increased work productivity, better concentration abilities, increased lung capacity, enhanced immune systems, improvements in sinus and related problems such as migraines, headaches, allergies and hay fever.

Doctors have recommended ion-rich environments as part of the treatment of numerous diseases such as neuralgia, hypertension, rheumatism, asthma, kidney and liver conditions and hormonal imbalances.

The effects of ionisation of the air have become so widely accepted that in many European and Russian hospitals and workplaces it has become mandatory to ionise the air.

Researchers from the former Soviet Union have noted that more than 5 000 scientific documents support the concept that high doses of negative ions have positive effects, while the opposite is true with exposure to high doses of positive ions.

The Soviets published numerous reports indicating that even brief periods of negative ion exposure – about 15 minutes a day for 25 days – resulted in improved responses to training in runners, boxers, swimmers and other athletes. These responses included greater rates of gain in both strength and endurance, as well as in improved psychological characteristics, sleep habits and appetite.

IF YOU SPEND A FEW MOMENTS BREATHING DEEPLY NEAR A SALT LAMP, YOU WILL FEEL THE DIFFERENCE

IONIC CRYSTAL SALT LAMPS CHANGE LIFE

LAMPS THAT CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE

Light passing through salt creates large quantities of negative ions. These ions rid the air of bacteria, smoke, dust and pollen.

They charge the air with a healthy energy that speeds the healing of wounds and relieves many symptoms of asthma and allergies.

Spend a few moments breathing deeply near a salt lamp and you will feel the differenceTake one home and you will reap its benefits for a lifetime.

WHERE DOES THIS SALT COME FROM

Our Lamps use salt that was formed 250 million years ago in the Himalayan Mountains.

There are actually spas located deep in the salt mines to take advantage of the health-giving qualities of the high saturation of Negative Ions.

The geographical location of the mine provides the unique mineral content that creates the inherent beautiful colour of the salt rock crystals in shades and hues of coral and melon.

No such colour can be found in any existing gemstone.

EACH PIECE IS A “NATURAL” SCULPTURE

In the body, negative ions increase our capacity to take up oxygen and enhance the ability of the respiratory tract to deal with airborne particles – allergens, dust, smoke etc.

Histamine, which triggers hay fever, is reduced by negative ions, which also have a beneficial effect on anyone suffering from bronchial complaints such as bronchitis, asthma, catarrh and the common cold.

The warm, peach glow gives one a feeling of warmth, security and serenity. Serenity is the first step on the road to well being.

Dr. Albert P. Krueger, a pathologist at the University of California, found that an astonishingly small quantity of negative ions kills many bacteria and quickly removes them from the air.

This is particularly useful to patients recovering from burns in particular.

(Krueger, A. P. “The Action of Air Ions on Bacteria.” Journal of General Physiology. Berkeley: University of California, 1957.)

Research papers from St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, Australia’s National University (A.N.U), the Pavlov Institute in Russia, all showed that improved lung capacity and relief from asthma symptoms are achieved quite rapidly by exposure to small negative air ions.

Exposure to negative air ions affects serotonin levels.

Serotonin is a brain chemical related to mood and stress. Anti-depressant drugs, e.g. Prozac, alter brain metabolism of serotonin.

In 1985 a European research project exposed over 100 out patients at a mental health clinic to negative ionisation for just 40 minutes per day.

After only a few sessions. 50% of depressive patients reported a return to normal; 75% of headache patients had their pain disappear.

Negative ions substantially reduce airborne pollutants and are highly effective in eliminating airborne bacteria.

Ionic salt lamps improve physical and mental health and are well proven to provide relief from sinus problems, migraine headaches, allergies and hay fever, reduce the severity of asthma attacks, enhance immune system function, increase alertness, work productivity and concentration, as well as lung capacity and reduce our susceptibility to colds and flu.

We absorb about 68% of our energy each day from the air we breathe. That’s more energy than we get from the food we eat or the water we drink.

SUMMARY

Negative ions accelerate the oxidative degradation of serotonin whereas positive ions have the opposite action and inactivate the enzymes which break down serotonin.

An increase in the serotonin level (5-hydroxytryptamine) produces:

  • Tachycardia [fast heart rate]
  • A rise in blood pressure,
  • Bronchospasm going as far as asthma attack,
  • Increased intestinal peristalsis (contractions and dilations of the intestines to move the contents onwards),
  • Increased sensitivity to pain,
  • Increased aggression

A decrease in the serotonin level is calming and increases defences against infection (as proven with influenza ‘the flu’).”

IONIC CRYSTAL SALT LAMPS NEGATIVE IONS

Ions are nothing more than atoms or molecules that have gained or lost an electron

Negative Ions are oxygen atoms with an extra electron.

Positive ions have lost an electron through the process of air pollution and other environmental causes.

Light passing through salt creates large quantities of negative ions.

These ions rid the air of bacteria, smoke, dust and pollen.

They charge the air with a healthy energy that speeds the healing of wounds and relieves many symptoms of asthma and allergies.

Negative Ions can help you feel better

In unspoiled natural settings, a balance of ions contributes to one’s sensations and perceptions in “fresh country air”.

Negative ions, the so-called “good ions” or “happy ions” because of their effects on mood, energy, libido and sense of well being, predominate near waterfalls, on mountaintops and at the seashore as well as after storms.

Negative ions are what we’re after. They can improve sleep, recuperation and all affected areas.

Ions are charged particles in the air that are formed in nature when enough energy acts upon a molecule such as carbon dioxide, oxygen, water, or nitrogen to eject an electron from the molecule leaving a positively charged Ion.

The displaced electron attaches itself to a nearby molecule, which then becomes a negatively charged Ion. It is the negative ion of oxygen that affects us the most.

The quality of the air we breathe depends on the kind of electrical charge and concentration of the ions.

The environment we live in today has far more sources of positive ions than in the past, creating an electrical imbalance in the air.

These surplus Positive Ions are produced by various human activities and electrical appliances.

The 21st century places immense stresses on your body.

More than ever before, you have a real need for a natural and effortless way to enhance your well being. Just as we choose to drink bottled water because of it’s purity, the quality of the air we breathe is essential to our health and well being.

Researchers from the former Soviet Union have noted that more than 5,000 scientific documents support the concept that high doses of negative ions have positive effects, while the opposite is true with exposure to high doses of positive ions.

They were among the first to become convinced of the benefits of negative ion treatment for individuals with various illnesses, especially asthma, bronchitis and upper respiratory problems. Ion therapy has also been used extensively in the Middle East – especially Israel, Europe and the Orient.

In the U.S. holistic health practitioners have used it primarily, although ion therapy did enjoy some popularity in the 1960s for the treatment of burn patients.

Its greatest use has been in the treatment of the roughly 25% of the population that is “weather sensitive,” who without treatment can be very nearly incapacitated when pollutant, and particularly positive ion, levels rise.

Ions are nothing more than atoms or molecules that have gained or lost an electron.

Dr.

The Soviets published numerous reports indicating that even brief periods of negative ion exposure (15 minutes a day for 25 days for example) resulted in improved responses to training in runners, boxers, swimmers and other athletes.

These responses included greater rates of gains. In both strength and endurance, as well as in improved psychological characteristics, sleep habits and appetite.

The greater the level of physical stress, such as from training overload, the greater the effect the ion treatments seemed to have.

This finding agrees with the beliefs of the leading ion researchers worldwide that those who benefit the most include the very young, the old, those most severely stressed and those with compromised immune systems.

Negative ions have been found to have a powerful impact on our environment and our health.

Negative ions speed the healing of burns and bring great relief to asthma patients.

They have been proven to balance serotonin levels in the bloodstream, stabilize alpha rhythms and positively impact reactions to sensory stimuli, increase levels of alertness and improve cognitive abilities such as thinking and learning, while improving one’s sense of well-being on many levels.

Negative ions are odourless, tasteless, and invisible molecules that we inhale in abundance in certain environments. Like mountains, waterfalls, and beaches.

SENSITIVITY TO NEGATIVE IONS

A whopping one in three of us who are sensitive to their effects, negative ions can make us feel like we are walking on air.

You are one of them if you feel instantly refreshed the moment you open a window and breathe in fresh, humid air.

“Statistically it was found that 25% of the population [of ‘weather sensitive’ test subjects] are quite strongly affected by levels of ions in the air”.

Of the remainder, 50% are affected considerably, although 25% do not appear sensitive at all.” In fresh country air it is common to find up to 4000 negative ions per cubic centimetre.

That’s about the size of a sugar cube. Near strong surf or close to a waterfall or heavy downpour, up to 10,000 negative ions can be found.

On the other hand, the number of negative ions found in major cities during rush hour is less than 100, and this factor contributes to stress, irritability and a score of other physical and psychological disorders.

EFFECTS ON THE BRAIN

Generally speaking, negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain; resulting in higher alertness, decreased drowsiness, and more mental energy,” says Pierce J. Howard, PhD, author of The Owners Manual for the Brain: Everyday Applications from Mind Brain Research and director of research at the Center for Applied Cognitive Sciences in Charlotte, N.C.

IONIC CRYSTAL SALT LAMPS POSITIVE IONS

Ions are nothing more than atoms or molecules that have gained or lost an electron

Positive ions have lost an electron through the process of air pollution and other environmental causes.

The “airtight” (Hermetically Sealed) construction of today’s homes and offices prevents the electrical nutrients of the outside air from treating the air inside our homes and workplaces.

Our modern convenience electrical appliances such as high-voltage networks, heating and cooling systems, cell phones, TVs, radios, transmitters, radar systems, computers, exhausts, fluorescent lighting, cigarette fumes, etc., produce large quantities of positive ions creating an electrical imbalance in the air and causing the deterioration of our physical and emotional well being.

When workplace Negative Ion concentration is lowered, workers complain of headaches, lethargy, dizziness, nausea, depression and irritability.

Beware “positive ion poisoning”!

Along with all the benefits modern technology has provided, unfortunately the 20th century industrial environment has drastically upset ion levels and the “natural” electrical quality of the air.

While very few human activities add the beneficial small negative ions to the atmosphere, many practices increase the levels of positive ions.

Positive ions are also produced by combustion, by electronic apparatus and by synthetic materials and fabrics – all of which are extensively used in urban societies. And outdoor air quality, while important, is not the major issue.

The problem is further compounded by central heating and cooling systems and by the effects of people crowded together and breathing in confined spaces.

Most indoor time is typically spent in relatively tightly sealed “energy efficient” buildings, where many pollutants – both gases and particulates – become concentrated and reach their highest levels.

It’s also indoors – including inside cars, trucks, airplanes, etc. – where, as Albert Krueger, MD (the late UC Berkeley researcher and founder of the Air Ion Research laboratory) argued, most individuals are exposed to either ion depletion or a condition called “positive ion poisoning.

The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that average people spend 80-90% of their lives indoors, where the air is usually worse.

SALT LAMPS & COMPUTERS

The Salt lamps create Negative Ions and the soft glow creates a wonderful atmosphere.
Evidence seems to be mounting that ion concentrations in the air do affect how people feel. Further, there is evidence that the new trend toward using computerized equipment in offices may be creating a special problem.

High ion concentrations do make people feel better. High ion concentrations also foster plant growth. The good effects seem to be attributed to high concentrations of negative ions rather than positive ones.

Now, a new problem arises when it appears that the ELF (extremely low-frequency) magnetic fields given off by many household appliances and computer monitors can be of sufficient strength to be considered potentially hazardous. The ion concentration is lowered by computer or any other means–air conditioning does it too – workers complain of headaches, lethargy, dizziness and nausea.

Computer Monitors. Concern over the radiation from televisions and computer monitors (which are closely related in operation and technology) is nothing new. A number of years ago there was concern as to whether radiation given off by colour televisions could have a negative impact on health. This concern was based primarily on ionizing radiation, (low-level X-rays) whose intensity fell off dramatically a few inches away from the TV screen, and turned out to be incidental. But more insidious than this overt threat is one that has passed unnoticed until quite recently: the low frequency magnetic fields generated by the coils on the TV’s CRT (Cathode-Ray Tube).

The latest study on cluster miscarriages was performed in 1988 by doctors Marilyn Goldhaber, Michael Polen, and Robert Hiat of the Kaiser Permanente Health Group in Oakland, California. The study involved 1,583 pregnant women. The results of the study showed that female workers who used computers more than 20 hours a week had double the miscarriage rate as female workers who did similar work without computers.

POSITIVE EFFECT OF SALT LAMPS ON OUR ENVIRONMENT

Today, at the beginning of the 21st century we can hardly, if only, imagine living without many electric devices. They make it easier for us to work in the office, at home, they entertain us. However, we often do not realize that they are also a source of very harmful positive ions, the so-called electric smog. The harmful effect of electric smog, resulting in the concentration of positive ions, deteriorates the condition of air in rooms, what then negatively affects our physical and emotional state.

THE MOST IMPORTANT SOURCES OF HARMFUL POSITIVE IONS ARE:

• computer monitors
• TV sets and radio receivers
• electric heaters
• dryers, vacuum cleaners
• microwave ovens
• tobacco smoke
A cheap and attractive method of fighting against the positive ions generated by the electronic appliances is to use Salt lamp. Salt Lamp generate considerable amount of negative ions in the air, so these ions neutralize the environment by absorbing positive ions.
The cheapest and the simplest method of fighting against electric smog is to air rooms regularly, particularly those in which a few people stay together for some time, in which there are many electric machines, or where cigarettes are smoked. You can also use air ionizers, but these are quite expensive. To help you remove electric smog, we offer a SALT LAMP. Made of a salt crystal, it is a natural air ionizer that effectively boosts the number of negative ions in the room.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF NEGATIVE IONS INCLUDE:

Naturally produce negative ions without creating ozone
Although salt lamps are not medical devices, they produce negative ions which work to significantly improve physical and mental health and negative ions are well proven to provide relief

  • from sinus problems,
  • migraine headaches,
  • allergies and hay fever,
  • reduce the severity of asthma attacks,
  • enhance immune system function,
  • increase alertness,
  • work productivity and concentration,
  • as well as lung capacity and
  • reduce our susceptibility to colds and flu.

We absorb about 68% of our energy each day from the air we breathe. That’s more energy than we get from the food we eat or the water we drink. A Negative Ion Generating Salt Lamp is an easy step towards a cleaner indoor environment.

WONDERFUL NEGATIVE IONS FOR YOUR BABY

It has been found that light passing through salt creates large quantities of negative ions.
The Salt Lamp will generate Negative ions in the room and pose a night light

In 1966 at a hospital in Jerusalem, doctors performed a series of tests on thirty- eight infants between two and twelve months old. All suffered to about the same degree from respiratory problems. They were divided into two groups of nineteen, one kept as a control group in a ward without any ion charge and the other where a negative ion generator was in use.

The researchers reported that negative ions without any other treatment – that is, no drugs – seemed to cure attacks of asthma and bronchitis more quickly than drugs, antibiotics included.
They also observed that there were none of the “adverse side effects” frequently found when treating such children with drugs. They concluded that the children treated with negative ions were less prone to “rebound attacks” (relapses). As to objectivity, the scientific report said that the tests “demonstrated that the atmospheric ions have an effect on infants, especially those suffering from asthmatic bronchitis.” Less scientifically, they found that babies didn’t cry as often and as loudly when they were breathing negative ions as they did in normal air. And there is nothing subjective about a bawling baby.

Brazilian hospitals now commonly use negative ion generators to treat breathing problems, after a test involving 36 children with asthmatic allergies. In each case, the problem was consistent or crippling. During the treatment, only one of them suffered an asthma attack. Afterward, no attacks were suffered by any of the children that sustained regular negative ion therapy (Soyka, 1991).

All About Salt Lamps

Here is the general information about Salt Lamps, it’s health benefits and beauty.
It has been researched scientifically that the amount of ions in the environment, that is acceptable by human is ca. 1000-1500/cm3. And normally in closed rooms were electronic appliances are utilized, this amount as low as 200/cm3.

A natural cheap and attractive method of fighting against the positive ions generated by the electronic appliances is to use the Salt lamp. The Salt Lamp generates considerable amount of negative ions in the air, so these ions neutralize the environment by absorbing positive ions.

In studies of children, negative ions have also demonstrated salutary effects. In one study, normal children and those with learning disabilities showed measurable improvements in brain function. The authors concluded: “Negative air ions are seen to be a tool with potential theoretical and remedial applications.”

An ideal gift for someone you care for.
